Louise Twining-Ward

Louise Twining-Ward leads the Global Tourism Team at the World Bank. Her mission is to make tourism the most effective development tool possible for women, for communities and for the environment.

She has a PhD in Sustainable Tourism from the University of Surrey in the UK and has worked on small island sustainability in the Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and West Africa.

She is currently leading the team working on the World Bank study on the Future of Tourism in the Caribbean. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2017, Louise led the NGO Sustainable Travel International (STI).
