Honorable Alexandra Otway-Noel, MP
Alexandra Otway was born in Toronto, Canada on December 27th 1972, to William and Carin Otway. Alexandra attended Westmoreland School and St. Joseph’s Convent (St. George’s) in Grenada graduating in 1990 well known for her exemplary debating skills. In 1990, Alexandra relocated to Canada to pursue tertiary studies in Advertising and Marketing.
On successful completion of her higher education she joined the tourism industry working for Fiesta Holidays in Toronto where she was quickly recognized for her skills in sales promotion and marketing. She then moved on to become the Director of Sales in Canada for the Issa Group of Hotels in Jamaica. Alexandra set an impressive record competing with Sandals, a formidable player in the Tourism sector.
She is extremely well travelled globally… Her global links remain strong to this day with Tourist boards, Tourism industry professionals and dignitaries. In 1997, Alexandra returned to Grenada where she took up a position for one year with LaSOURCE Hotel as their onsite Sales and Marketing Manager. The following year to enable her parents to retire she decided to take over her family’s business comprising of Office Buildings and a Travel and tour Company.
After a number of successful years and accomplishments in business, including being the agent for Caribbean Star, bringing Air Canada to Grenada and holding the post of Consultant to the Grenada Board of Tourism on its operations in Canada she sold that company.
She held the post of Director on the Board of Directors of the Grenada Airports Authority for 3 years and then assumed the role as Chairman…it should be noted that she was the first female to achieve this appointment.
She has worked with various foundations and charitable organizations some of the most noteworthy, is that she was a Board Member of the medical trust to the Grenada National Coalition for the rights of the child, she was recognized as one of the Caribbean Canadian Emerging Leaders by the CCELD presided upon by the Princess Royal, Princess Anne.
Most recently her charity which was formed 3 years ago has been doing a feeding program for children in rural areas in the summer. Just recently she participated in a drive in Canada with Friends and colleagues to send aid to hurricane Irma victims. Alexandra Otway Noel has consulted with many investors and has assisted in closing many major deals for the benefit of Grenada.
She contested the General Elections in 2013 as the NNP candidate for the Constituency of South St. George, the constituency with the largest number of registered voters and she received the second highest ratio of votes of all the candidates that were contesting the 2013 General Election bringing the seat back to the NNP. She has been an outspoken and provocative political figure who has successfully been serving her term continuing to be a hardworking and dedicated parliamentary representative for the people of South St. George and the Nation of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Honorable Alexandra Otway Noel has held two substantive posts in the Government of Grenada’s Cabinet, firstly as the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture and finally as the Minister for Implementation of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
